It's not just about the tunes

So obvious, but maybe not.

I've got some really good festival recordings from the last of 5 festivals that I got to this past [North American] summer. As I'm listening, and listening again, it dawns on me that I found some really good festival friends this season. I think there's something about our growing familiarity that contributes to the quality of the jam. We sort of found each other, probably by some attraction to a commonality of tune selection and pure dumb luck. And, introductions from friends in common. And the fact that we're such fun and interesting folks. :-) But, by the last festival we all had a better clue about what folks would like, and the resulting playlist is so nice to my ears. I've still got a few more tunes to put into Garage Band for cleaning up the chat in the beginning and end. All in all, I'm happy with the Edirol R09 that I used this time around. Good bye Sony Minidiscs, it's been good to know you. Soon as I have my info and permissions in order, I'll try to post some.

So, here's what I got so far from one of the best Lake Genero's ever, IMHO...

In A:
Camp Chase
Grandad's Favorite
Remember What I Told You
Shelvin' Rock
Pretty Little Gal and Widow
Red Prairie Dawn
Squirrel Heads and Gravy
Buffalo Gals
Fishin' Time
Jenny Lynn
Pretty Little Shoes
Reap What You Sow

In D:
Durangs (a la Kessinger)
Shuffle About

In G:
Cider

In G and D:
Gwine Over De Mountain

Hello from Hobart town

Safe and sound and making music. Golly gosh, tunes at the New Sydney Pub were better than ever. And, the Hobart Old Time Stringband is sounding 6 months worth of better! Check out a link to their website on the right>>>>>

I'm feverishly editing my collection of recordings from this past (north american) summer's festivals. Stay tuned for some links when I get enough done and digested.

In the meantime, I check out the Fiddle Hangout every so often and pontificate some there, too.
